About Sudham

From Our Bihar Farm to Your Bowl

Sudhamfoods is a brand of Biz Growthelevator Private Limited. Rooted in Bihar, Sudham has its own 35-acre makhana farm. Makhana is at the heart of what we do, from our raw suta-grade range to flavoured snacks made for everyday moments.

What is makhana?

Also known as fox nuts, makhana is the popped seed of a water plant grown in ponds. It has a light, crisp texture and can be enjoyed plain, roasted, or seasoned. That versatility makes it easy to serve as a snack, share with friends, or add to recipes.

Why people enjoy it

Makhana offers a satisfying crunch and a subtle flavour that works well with both simple seasoning and bolder flavours. Whether you prefer raw makhana to prepare your own way or a ready-to-enjoy flavoured pack, there is room to make it your own.

The people behind Sudhamfoods

Asim Sandilya leads Sudham’s makhana business, and Akshay Kumar leads operations. Aashish Ranjan looks after the warehouses, while Alok Kumar manages product commitments and logistics, coordinating deliveries against agreed timelines.

Our roots and locations

Our store is at Lalit Bhawan, Patna. We also have warehouse operations in the Katihar and Supaul areas of Bihar. Our connection to the region and its makhana-growing tradition is central to Sudham’s story.

A guide to makhana

Understanding makhana grades

What does suta mean? Suta is a traditional trade term used to group popped makhana by size. In a range such as 4 Suta, 5 Suta, 5+ Suta, 6 Suta and 6+ Suta, higher grades generally indicate larger pieces. Exact specifications can vary by seller and lot, so ask us for the grading specification of a current lot if size is important to your order.

How is that different from millimetres? A millimetre (mm) measurement describes physical diameter, while suta is a trade grade. They should not be treated as a universal one-to-one conversion. Sizing can vary between sellers and lots, so if a precise diameter or uniformity matters for your order, ask us for the measured size range and grading specification for the current lot.

What does handpicked mean? In makhana trade, this usually describes pieces selected or sorted by hand, often to separate sizes or remove visibly unsuitable pieces. It does not, by itself, define a particular size, quality threshold, or harvesting method. Ask for the selection criteria if this matters to your purchase.

From seed to popped makhana

Makhana begins as seeds collected from aquatic plants. The seeds are dried and heated, then popped to produce the light, crisp pieces people recognise. Popped makhana may then be sorted by size and appearance before being packed or seasoned. Methods and grading standards can differ by producer and batch.
